These characteristics are often inconsistent, and may vary depending upon the day or situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Career:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Employed in job\/position that will hide difficulties or not require dealing with problematic areas.<\/li><li>Hides difficulties from co-workers, friends and even family.<\/li><li>Becomes frustrated at \u201cplanning meetings\u201d and sequential tasks \u2013 already has the answer and how to do it.<\/li><li>Becomes frustrated or overwhelmed with long forms or sequential processes.<\/li><li>Thrives in careers where visual-spatial\/kinesthetic talents can be realized: For example \u2013 Entrepreneurs, Engineers, Trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical), Artisans, Interior Decorating, Actors, Musicians, Police\/Investigation, Athletes, and Business Executives (usually with staff\/assistants).<\/li><li>May pass up promotions or advancement opportunities that would require more administrative work.<\/li><li>Has difficulty focusing and staying on task \u2013 may feel more comfortable managing many different tasks simultaneously.<\/li><li>Difficulty with tests \u2013 passing standardized tests can be a barrier to career advancement.<\/li><li>Highly successful\/over achiever, or considered \u201cnot working up to potential.\u201d Either way, displays extreme work ethic.<\/li><li>May be a perfectionist and overreact when they make a mistake.<\/li><li>Out-of-the-box thinker or operates with very strict rules for themselves.<\/li><li>Learns best through hands-on experience, demonstrations, experimentation, observation, and visual aids<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Highly intuitive \u2013 known to have \u201cstreet smarts.\u201d Is often \u201cdead on\u201d in judging personalities of others.<\/li><li>May be able to sense emotions and energy of others.<\/li><li>Remembers struggling in school.<\/li><li>Frequently have dyslexic children and experience guilt when seeing own child struggle. Insecurities arise while reading to own children or helping them with homework.<\/li><li>Easily distracted\/annoyed by noises and other things in environment.<\/li><li>May appear to \u201czone out\u201d and be unaware that it is happening.<\/li><li>Enjoys video games.<\/li><li>Misspeaks, misuses, or mispronounces words without realizing it.<\/li><li>May have poor balance or is\/was very athletic.<\/li><li>May have excellent recall of events that were experienced or not remember at all.<\/li><li>May confuse past conversations or be accused of \u201cnot listening.\u201d<\/li><li>Difficulty remembering names of people without tricks, but remembers faces.<\/li><li>Difficulty remembering verbal instructions or directions.<\/li><li>Poor recall of conversations or sequence of events.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reading, Writing, and Spelling:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Difficulty reading unfamiliar fonts.<\/li><li>Avoids reading out loud. May dislike public speaking.<\/li><li>Will commonly perceive that they \u201cread better silently.\u201d<\/li><li>Has adopted compensatory tricks to remember spelling and homonyms (their, there, they\u2019re), or misuses homonyms and has poor or inconsistent\/phonetic spelling.<\/li><li>Reading fluency and comprehension fluctuates depending upon subject matter.<\/li><li>Frequently has to re-read sentences in order to comprehend.<\/li><li>Fatigues or becomes bored quickly while reading.<\/li><li>Reliance on others (assistants, spouses, significant others) for written correspondence.<\/li><li>Uncertainty with words, punctuation, and spelling when writing. Reliance on spell-check and grammar-check.<\/li><li>Words out of context look \u201cwrong.\u201d<\/li><li>Poor handwriting \u2013 masks spelling mistakes.<\/li><li>Writes with all capital letters, or mixes capital letters within words. Abbreviates words frequently.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math, Time Management, Directions:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>May understand higher math, but can\u2019t show it on paper.<\/li><li>May excel at math, or may still rely on tricks for remembering math facts.<\/li><li>Relies on calculators or finger counting. May have difficulty with making change.<\/li><li>Difficulty with left\/right and\/or North, South, East, West.<\/li><li>Gets lost easily or never forgets a place they\u2019ve been.<\/li><li>Difficulty reading maps.<\/li><li>May have anxiety or stress when driving in unfamiliar places. Relies on others to drive when possible.<\/li><li>May lose track of time and is frequently late \u2013 or is highly aware of it and is very rarely late.<\/li><li>Finds it difficult to estimate how long a task will take to complete.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Behavior, Health, and Personality:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>May have a short fuse or is easily frustrated, angered, or annoyed.<\/li><li>Easily stressed and overwhelmed in certain situations.<\/li><li>Low self-esteem.<\/li><li>Self-conscious when speaking in a group. May have difficulty getting thoughts out \u2013 pause frequently, speak in halting phrases, or leave sentences incomplete.
